Cookie Policy
Last updated: 20 April 2026
1. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work efficiently, provide a better user experience, and give website operators information about how the site is being used.
This Cookie Policy also covers similar technologies such as local storage, which serves a similar purpose to cookies but is stored differently in your browser.
2. Legal Basis
Our use of cookies and similar technologies is governed by the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR), as amended by the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025 (DUAA) (changes effective 5 February 2026), and the UK GDPR.
Under PECR, cookies that are strictly necessary for the operation of the website do not require your consent. For other cookies, we either obtain your consent or rely on the new statistical purposes exemption introduced by the DUAA (see Section 3.2 below).
3. Technologies We Use
V2Events uses the following categories of cookies and similar technologies:
3.1 Essential Technologies (Always Active)
These cookies and storage mechanisms are strictly necessary for the Platform to function. They cannot be switched off. They are set in response to actions you take, such as signing in, making a payment, or setting your preferences.
| Provider | Technology | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| Clerk | Cookies | Authentication and session management — keeps you securely signed in | Session / 30 days |
| Stripe | Cookies | Payment security and fraud prevention during checkout (e.g. __stripe_mid, __stripe_sid) | Session / 1 year |
| V2Events | Local Storage | Cookie consent preference — remembers your analytics opt-in/opt-out choice | Until manually cleared |
3.2 Performance / Analytics (Opt-Out Available)
We use Vercel SpeedInsights to measure page load performance and Core Web Vitals. This helps us understand where the site is slow and improve your experience.
Vercel SpeedInsights collects aggregated, anonymous performance data. It does not track, monitor, or profile individual visitors, does not use cookies to identify you, and does not share data with third parties for advertising purposes.
Under the amended PECR (as updated by the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025), technologies used solely for statistical purposes — to gather information about how a website is used with the goal of improving the service — are exempt from the consent requirement, provided that:
- The technology is used exclusively for statistical purposes (not advertising or individual tracking)
- Users are provided with clear information about the technology
- Users are offered a simple, free way to opt out
We believe Vercel SpeedInsights meets these conditions. However, we continue to provide an opt-out option via our cookie consent banner, and we respect your choice if you decline.
| Provider | Technology | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| Vercel SpeedInsights | Script-based measurement | Measures page load performance and web vitals to help us improve site speed | Session (no persistent storage) |
4. Managing Your Preferences
When you first visit V2Events, a cookie consent banner will appear allowing you to accept or decline optional analytics. You can change your preference at any time by:
- Clearing your browser's local storage for v2events.uk — the consent banner will reappear on your next visit, allowing you to make a new choice.
- Using your browser settings — most browsers allow you to block, delete, or manage cookies and local storage. See your browser's help section for instructions.
Please note that blocking essential cookies may prevent the Platform from functioning correctly (e.g. you may not be able to sign in or complete purchases).
5. Third-Party Cookies
We do not use any third-party advertising, marketing, or social media tracking cookies. The only third-party technologies are those set by Clerk (for authentication), Stripe (for payment security), and Vercel (for performance analytics, subject to your preference).
We do not allow any third party to use cookies on our Platform for the purpose of tracking your browsing activity across other websites.
6. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the technologies we use or applicable regulations. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
7. More Information
For more information about how we handle your personal data, please see our Privacy Policy.
If you have any questions about our use of cookies or similar technologies, please contact us at support@v2events.uk.
